The Skyhawk Stage III Whopper Stopper

This 4 stroke motorized bicycle engine kit comes with everything you need to convert most V-frame bicycle to a 49cc gas powered scooter. Simply clamp on the engine, install the sprocket, gas tank, and other hardware and you'll be up a running in a couple of hours. Installation requires some tools and a moderate mechanical apptitude.

High quality 4 stroke Hua Sheng engine gets you 150mpg with top speeds of about 35 MPH (pretty fast on a bicycle). These things are built to last and require virtually no maintenance.

With the built in clutch you maintain full function of the original bike. Click to learn more about your centrifugal clutch. Pedal, shift, and ride your bike like normal. When you want to engage the engine simply release the clutch hand lever and the engine springs to life. To power off simply press the included kill switch.

This kit is legal in almost all states. Most laws stipulate that any motorized vehicle under 50cc is legal to operate without a license, registration, or insurance. You can find a kit with a larger engine, but you will be required to have a drivers license and you must license, register, and insure your scooter. Don't bother with the hassle--get the biggest engine available that doesn't require license, registration, and insurance!

When I received the kit the box was poorly packaged and a lot of the parts were scratched but everything was there. The motor was packaged very well in a different box and was in perfect shape. I used a cheap Wal-Mart Schwinn 26'' Landmark Cruiser Bike. It’s hard to find a steel frame bike. If you buy this kit you must have some very good mechanical skills. It takes allot of wrenching and customizing to make everything fit. After all it’s a Kit. You will want to take the time to do everything right. If you don’t you will break down away from your home. I replaced all the bolts with number 5 and 8 grade bolts. The bolts with the kit were a joke. My wheel spindle was not perfectly flat so I could not get the wobble down to 3/16 of an inch as recommended. You have to get it down to 1/16 or the chain will slip off. The Sells Representative told me that I could return it for another one but it would take several weeks. I did not want to wait so I took it to a local machine shop and they made it perfectly flat. Technical support is non existent. I call and left a voice message of a problem and it’s been two weeks and no one has returned my call. So, you better know that if you have technical or mechanical problems you are on your own. I had to seal the gas tank with PRO 15 Gas Tank Sealer. (You can also get this product form Eastwood Products. It’s about 15 bucks a pint). I highly recommend doing this because my tank had a small leak. Also when you install the tank do not over tighten the mounting nuts or it will leak where the bolt studs are welded to the tank. I just hand tighten the nuts and them gave the nuts one half turn with a winch. I have completed the bike. It took me about a month the finish it. I have test rode the bike and everything is working perfectly. The clutch is slipping and is very loud, but maybe that will break in and get quite. Other than that the bike if fun to ride. Everyone in the neighborhood likes it because it’s not loud like a two-stroke motor.

DONT get a two stroke, they are nothing but problems the four stroke will give you way less problems and i would even say none at all..

2000 Miles and still running great. I purchased my 49cc engine around early spring of 2008. I ride every day to and from work and around local areas. I love it and so does most people I encounter. Big plus is to seal up your gear case and add gear oil lube. Makes riding alot smoother and easier on the engine. I'm ready to build a new 2 stoke now. Thanks, Johnny Rockford. Kansas city, Mo.

I received ny engine in Nov. of '07 and I loved it until today when I found out that in AZ, anything over 48cc must be registered. Other than that I love mine.
