ryan ricci - 02/04/2012 I bought the 49cc grubee skyhawk kit and installed it on my Shogun 18 speed mtn bike. I kept breaking motor mount studs. They warrantied the kit for a full refund=d and offered me another kit so i upgraded to the 58cc and its on an OP Roller beach cruiser. Been riding it since June 2011 and its Jan 2012. I love it. I ride it in the snow...i ride it around town. I love it. I have had issues tho. Three broken chains. I upgraded to an HD chain. 2 rear rims with hubs. and the gas tank leaked. Luckily They sold me a used one for really cheap . These guys always hook me up when i need them and always willing to assist. I live right here in the same town that they sell these kits from so i just drive on over. |
william hart - 12/15/2011 i resently purchased the phantom 58cc, and installed it to the 29er Genesis Onyx ,believe me this was a challenge in itself, I'm a 30 yr. Mechanic ,and this installation was a big thing, if anyone out there is considering on building the 29er with the bib frames be prepared to a challenge, this is not a easy task. when i started ,i figured maybe about 2 or 3 weeks, boy was i wrong, two and a half mth.s later, DONE,and I'm as proud of my bike as a new papa, .The Phantom 58cc was a perfect choice ,shortly after completeing my project i set out on a journey, and traveled about 600 ml.s until i blew out the rearend ,"cheap coaster brake rearends are not recommended",but the fact is i love this engine and will continue to use it for its purpose ,TRAVELING,.also with the 44t rear sproket and size of this bike my top speed was 40mph.WOW that was scrarry.travelerhart |
robert coleman - 07/08/2010 so far 07/07/2010 i have been able to travel 30.58 mph. i have to pedal to assist the engine going up most hills but the engine power is getting stronger. my engine came with the HD axel and break kit. this axel requires the local bicycle shop to lace up the back rim so beprepared to have a wait on your hands getting this project up and running. my HD axel required the ordering of a 18 tooth sproket after i had my engine on the frame and ready to go, the american sprockets would not fit. my bike project has taken me about 5 weeks from order to engine breakin and road test. this engine /kit has poor quality instructions not meant for the non mechanical mind, also not an afternoon 3hour project.also look on the www.grubeeinc.com site for better information on HD axel assebly. this project was a long time in the making and i purchased it because my car took a dive on me and this was a hopeful option, but a long wait to see it work. make sure to use locktight on all bolts and nuts so you don't lose any parts. other than the 5 weeks this prject took me i am over all pleased with the operation and compared to otherkits this one is more sturdy and works well when assembled with care. this has been a fun project and now that it works i am very pleased to have the wind in my hair. also make sure to get extra spark plugs and gas filters. i will have my pictures of my project posted on this site under bike gallery.
i ahve the 7 speed point beach cruiser with chromed fenders and luggage wrack, also looking at several lighting systems for night riding. |
