This is my 4 stroke gas powered bicycle. It has the 2.5 hp OHV chinese clone engine of the honda GX 50. It is a very fun bike when it actually works. But it has had a few problems. One thing that needs to be redesigned is the first clutch gear. The transmission was not designed to well. I am on my third clutch gear. I also recommend purchasing better muffler bolts. Mine broke in the holes. But one thing I like is that this motor has always worked really well. It does make a lot of vibration because it is only a one cylinder, but is works well and started on the third pull. It was inter mediate assembling it. It was all pretty smooth, but the rear sprocket was a pain.
But when it works, you will probably enjoy it. The only thing I don't like is that it does not have a multi speed transmission which means it has very poor acceleration. But once it gets going, it will usually reach about 25-30 mph stock which is pretty slow. I have clocked it with a radar and a speedometer. It will climb hills OK with the stock gearing. But once you get to 30, the engine starts red lining so you should cruse at about 23-26 mph.
I have a straight pipe, 48[really 50] tooth sprocket, and a 1 gal gas tank. The exhaust really gives it a cool sound, sort of like a loud dirt bike and gives it about 60 percent more acceleration and hill climbing ability. With the 48 tooth and no baffle, on a good day with the wind at your back I have clocked it at about 43+mph maybe 48+down a small hill. Considering it is a bicycle, this is a pretty decent speed. But unfortunately, on major roads, you will have a hard time keeping up with cars. But in most states you can legally use the bicycle lane, so no problem. So if you want an OK bike that is a lot of fun but not too reliable, then this is an over all good bike. |
