Phantom 85 Version 3 is back in stock! New cylinder design eliminates ring snag while optimizing the size of the intake and transfer ports to deliver maximum power. Limited stock available.

ZTMOTO Phantom 85. The first true 85cc 2 stroke engine built for motorized bicycling. More than 2 years in the making this exclusive new engine has been redesigned to be the most powerful and reliable bicycle engine available.

The Phantom boasts a 52mm bore, redesigned, single piece cylinder combined with a 40mm stroke that makes this the biggest, fastest, most powerful bike engine you can buy. The bike engine kit comes standard with an upgraded CDI, the latest performance Speed carb, a reed valve, a double window piston, and a brand new class of high-end exhaust.

Testing has shown the ZTMoto 85 to deliver well over 3 HP. More powerful than the so called 100’s, faster than the Dio’s, the Phantom delivers high end performance right out of the box.

We also know that along with performance motorized bike riders demand durability. That’s why we made sure to include a ceramic coating on the inside of all the Phantom cylinders. This process, often seen in the racing industry, extends the life of the cylinder, reduces friction and heat, and helps improve overall engine performance.

New Phantom 85 Features Include:

  • 52mm Bore, 40mm Stroke - Actual U.S. engine displacement: 85cc
  • Single piece cylinder and head (Lower operating temps, increased rider weight capacity, improved power output across varied rpm range)

this is most definitely not a first-time builders engine you will absolutely kill yourself. basically, before I even ran the engine I took the whole thing apart and put in good quality timken 6202-rs bearings for everything because most of the bearings came pre-shot from the factory and needed to be replaced anyway, balanced the crank, replaced the crank seals, (this was a gen 2 phantom so i had to do the needle bearing mod too) then cleaned and greased everything. after you get the engine good to go then you need to make sure you have a solid bike frame, a Walmart beach cruiser will not cut it, I am 80% sure this engine could destroy a Walmart bike. you need to make sure you have a good way to mount it on the hub, I used a hub adapter but I drilled and threaded one side of it and ran a bolt through it, and also ground a flat spot on the hub so that there was no chance the hub adapter would move, this worked. I find a 36-40 tooth sprocket pairs well with this engine because it has a ridiculous amount of power. you will also 100% have to retard the timing quite a bit unless you are a racer or else this thing sounds like a gun going off and I would replace the carb with a pz20 or similar along with a g2 reed valve and stuffer. if your are an experienced builder on the hunt for more power with the time, money, and patience to monkey around with this then buy it 100% it has so much power. I cant even imagine what it would be like ported and with an expansion chamber. frankly, this engine scares me.

Motor would be good if I could get a needle bearing for it, I have the v2 bushing but dont want to run it until I can at least purchase the latest bearing for it

My boyfriend bought the Phantom 85. He loves it. It had some issues and we contacted customer service who resolved it quickly. Still needs a needle bearing and hopefully they will become available in the near future.

This motor is bad ass I just wish the wrist pin bearing was wider so the piston wouldn't move side to side. Or maybe bore out the hole in the piston and connecting rod so you guys could use the same wrist pain bearing from other motorized bike motors

Despite the uncertainty of new bronze bushing durability I ordered this kit, Finished frame up build last night; Ran couple heat cycles & shakedown runs so far, so good! Excited to lean out fuel mix & needle setting after first couple tanks of gas; wonder how it will run @ 40:1 !!

Powerful engine, destroyed rear hub in 3 days. Even though I have heard that could have been not enough grease from factory. Huffy cranbrook. Pretty easy installation, vert little cleaning up of casting. Only one issue. The carb, leaked very bad. Upon inspection. The flange that holds gasket in place us very thin. A peace about 1 inch crackwd off on straight part of it and a small piece in the corner. Very thin casting around the bowl. Other then that very pleased with the rest of the kit
